Types of Welds

Strong welds are essential for many different types of projects. Below are the individual types of welds we offer at Avon Lake Sheet Metal. For more information and expert advice in choosing which weld is best for your project, contact us today!

Our Welding Services:

  • Spot Welding
  • TIG Welding
  • MIG Welding
  • Field Welding
  • Stick Welding

Gas Tungsten Arc Welding

GTAW, also known as TIG (tungsten inert gas) welding, is a type of arc welding which produces the weld using a non-consumable tungsten electrode. Inert gases such as argon or helium are used to protect the area being welded from contamination and most, although not all, welding applications will require filler metal.

(No grinding) Weld strip polished with 3M (80 grit) bristle wheel

Weld ground flush to material surface (120 grit) finish

Gas Metal Arc Welding

GMAW (gas metal arc welding), which is also referred to as MIG (metal inert gas) welding, is a technique that enables welders to perform a weld on traditionally non-ferrous materials.
